When I try to run DX on my W98SE laptop I am getting the following error

"Desktop does not appear to be installed on the current machine. This widget needs DesktopX installed in order to run."

If I try to run DesktopX.exe then I get the following error

"The ICONX.DLL file is linked to missing export SHELL32.DLL:SHGetFolderPathW"

Any help would be appreciated in resolving this small problem

hm... is DX even supported in pre Window2000 platforms these days?

As far as I've seen, it will only work on Windows 2000 or XP.

I have looked all over the DesktopX website and it does not say that it does not support preW2K, it just says that it enhances your "Windows environment".

You could be right that it does only support w2k and above but it does not state this anywhere officially as far as I can see

Yeah, I looked before I posted before and didn't find any system requirements page, but I did find a few things like this:

DesktopX 3 is designed to make doing all this easier than ever and adds a ton of new features. Moreover, DesktopX Pro supports creating stand-alone programs called "gadgets". So now you can take your creations, export them as a gadget and give them to anyone running Windows 2000 or XP (and soon Longhorn).

So that is what I based my previous reply on.

I have spoken to GreenReaper and it would appear I need to try to get hold of DesktopX 2.4 which does support pre 2k windows.

Thanks for your help all
